	This letter is to confirm that Hewlett Packard may use without charge
the software associated with the Dialnet project and is
allowed restricted access to computers belonging to Stanford
University in connection with such use.

	We hope that in return, Stanford University will benefit
by the spread of this software to other computer sites and 
development of software to support services such as inter-site
mail and file transfer.  

	It is our intention to put Dialnet software in the public domain,
and we hope that Hewlett-Packard will do likewise with Dialnet software
developed for your Decsystem 20.  We have no opinion about this in
connection with Dialnet software developed for HP computers.

	I hope this letter meets your requirements and will be glad
to answer any questions about the Dialnet project.
